If you’re in the market for a luxury mid-size sedan, there is no shortage of options. However, the 2023 Lexus ES stands out from the pack with its cutting-edge technology, a well-designed interior that delivers a comfortable ride, and a high-quality build with a fuel-efficient engine — all of which come standard.

Basics About the Lexus ES

The ES boasts a 30-plus-year track record of providing drivers with a reliable and long-lasting luxury mid-size sedan. Currently in its seventh generation, the 2023 model has new exterior and interior designs, as well as updated technology features that seamlessly improve the overall driving experience.

New/Unique Features for 2023

The exterior of the 2023 ES has a more dynamic and sportier look, thanks to a more aggressive front grille, LED headlights and taillights, and new wheel designs. Meanwhile, interior updates include a new infotainment system, an available 12.3-inch touchscreen display, and new driver assist features.

Infotainment System Updates

The 2023 ES infotainment system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Drive Connect (with cloud navigation), the “Hey Lexus” assistant, and an optional destination assist service (subscription). This new multimedia system replaces the Remote Touch Interface from previous models. This new multimedia system replaces the Remote Touch Interface from previous models.

Lexus Safety System+ 2.5

Now standard on the ES, the Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 includes a pre-collision system, lane departure alerts, automatic high beams, lane tracing and road sign assist, and intelligent clearance sonar. These advanced features use radar, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors to detect potential collisions, help keep the vehicle in its lane, display road signs, and assist with parking.

Choice of 3 Powertrains

The 2023 ES comes with three powertrains: the 250 AWD, 350, and 300h. Within those three powertrains, the ES has two “upgrade” packages: Luxury and Ultra Luxury. The Luxury package includes a 14-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, quilted semi-aniline leather-trimmed interior, and wood trim with ambient lighting. The Ultra Luxury package features a 12.3-inch touchscreen display, a power open/close trunk with a kick sensor, and a head-up display.

F SPORT Editions

In addition to the three powertrains, the ES also has the F SPORT Design option available on all models. The Design package includes flashier exterior styling, 19-inch alloy wheels with a black finish, and a rear spoiler. The Handling package, available on the 350 and 300h, has performance-inspired instrumentation, bolstered heated and ventilated front seats, and adaptive variable suspension.

It’s also worth noting that (with regular maintenance and care) it’s not uncommon for an ES to last well over 200,000 miles — just one of the benefits Kelley Blue Book considered for the 2023 ES when rating it “highest in its class” and awarding it the “best buy” prize.
