Lexus of Wilmington

Nov 11, 2022

Whether you have the whole family along in your Lexus GX or you’re looking to spend the day with your significant other in your gorgeous LC convertible, Wilmington, DE has some fun and interesting things to do. Here are a couple of spots we love.

Delaware Children’s Museum

At 550 Justison St, this great museum has been pleasing kids for years and will not disappoint yours. They have special things for everyone in the family, including teens, adults, and even toddlers. There’s also plenty of parking, which isn’t always easy to find. There’s even a private nursing area for moms and babies who need a few minutes of privacy.

Some great exhibits include the Structures exhibit, which shows your kids what architects do and how to create buildings, and the Studio D exhibit, where kids can get hands-on with their creative side in weaving, painting, sculpting, printmaking, and more. The exhibits and shows are always rotating, so visit regularly.

Winterthur Museum, Garden, and Library

This amazing place at 5105 Kennett Pike hosts a huge botanical garden, historic decorations and period pieces, and knowledgeable staff who will tell you everything about the house, grounds, and history. Ride the tram for the best tour, and if you’re there in time for the Marketplace Festival, don’t miss it. They also have wellness yoga, a special story time for kids, birding walks, and lots more.

Xtreme Zone

Head over to 4060 N Dupont Hwy Suite 11 for some fun go-kart racing for anyone over the age of eight. They let you run individual races, but you can also join a league if you want to really take it seriously. Each race is 6 miles long, and the prices are such that it’s worth a membership if you think you’ll enjoy it. They also have arcade games, so there’s plenty to do between races.

Fox Point State Park

At Lighthouse Rd, this state park is a fun place to take the family, talk a quiet walk with a loved one, watch the ships and trains, or have a picnic. There’s a playground, a riverwalk, and lots of bald eagles to watch. The park is open from 8am until sunset and costs $4 for locals and $8 for out-of-state vehicles.

There’s a volleyball court, kite flying area, horseshoes, and some nice biking trails. You’ll find restrooms, a place to rent sports equipment, and good drinking water facilities. Most of the area is also wheelchair accessible, so everyone can truly come along.

We love visiting these spots for a bit of high-energy fun, a day of entertainment for the kids, a great bbq picnic, or to learn a bit about history. To explore the whole Wilmington area in style, come see us at Lexus of Wilmington to take a look at our lineup.
