6 Best Ice Cream Places in and Around Wilmington, DE

Wilmington, DE is a great town full of friendly people, excellent places to eat and drink, and a laid-back atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of Philadelphia. To enjoy some of what this town has to offer, we recommend visiting one of Wilmington’s excellent ice cream shops this summer for a refreshing frozen treat. We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorites to help you get started.

1. IceCream Delight

Located in a little shack next to a gas station, this place is a real hidden jewel. The soft serve is super creamy and is available in an impressive 52 different flavors, so you can keep coming back and never get bored. If you’re feeling overwhelmed we recommend the red velvet flavor – it’s our favorite, and we’re sure you won’t be disappointed. They also serve a great classic banana split, which is an excellent treat on a hot day.

2. Reno’s

Reno’s is known around town for excellent classic soft-serve and milkshakes. It’s conveniently located inside Pike Creek shopping mall, so you can stop here for a treat when you get tired of shopping. We recommend trying the salted caramel flavor, which has a bright, fun taste. The staff here is super friendly and helpful as well, so if you have any questions about their menu don’t be shy to ask!

3. La Guerrerense

This is a great little spot for anyone who loves Mexican treats and frozen desserts. Everything is homemade, and it always tastes super creamy and fresh. There are lots of different fun and creative flavors to choose from – we recommend trying the Chocolate Abuelita which tastes just like hot chocolate!

4. Double Dipper

Double Dipper is a great family-run business with a warm, friendly atmosphere. The staff is great with kids and very patient while they make their selections. They also have a movie night for local kids every Friday, so it’s an awesome place to bring your little ones.

5. Dino’s

This is another great family-owned place with super friendly owners who are passionate about their business. Dino’s makes really great water ice, and they have tons of flavor options that are all amazing. There are lots of other treats as well, including delicious gelato, pizza, and pretzels, making this a great spot to come with a group – there’s something for everyone!

6. Sweet Lucy’s

Sweet Lucy’s is a great old-fashioned parlor that serves excellent sundaes, smoothies, and candies at super reasonable prices. Their cake batter flavor is to die for, and we really recommend trying it – if you love it you may even want to take a to-go quart home to enjoy with your family and friends.
