Lexus of Wilmington

Mar 7, 2022

Wilmington, DE is a beautiful, historic city that was made famous by the many investments and ventures of the philanthropic Du Pont family. With many open, green spaces and culturally important landmarks, the town makes for a great day out, and it also boasts some of the best Italian restaurants in the state. Covering dishes from risotto to gnocchi, here are our favorite spots for Italian grub in Wilmington.

Cafe Mezzanotte

Serving up exquisite pan-Mediterranean classics, Cafe Mezzanotte is a staple of Wilmington’s thriving restaurant scene. Along with their delicious standard menu that includes mouth-watering dishes such as scallops, calamari, and arancini balls, the chefs at Cafe Mezzanotte are also constantly creating new, inspired dishes for the daily specials board.

Of course, there is also a great selection of Italian wines available to complement your meal. If you are drinking wine, however, please remember to drink responsibly, never drink and drive and never allow anyone under the legal drinking age to consume alcohol.

Capers and Lemons

Capers and Lemons is a popular, modern restaurant that can be found on Little Falls Drive. What sets this place apart is that, not only is it a restaurant, but it also hosts a small Italian market that deals with artisan meats, cheeses, olives, and other traditional snacks for you to take away.

The menu is packed full of all the classics you would expect to find at a trendy Italian place such as pizza, pasta, seafood, and sandwiches, and everything is prepared to perfection. Even all the pasta and flatbreads are freshly made on-site for a truly authentic Italian experience.

Bardea Food & Drink

Bardea is the Italian name for the Goddess of food and drink, and the name fits the joint perfectly. The kitchen is staffed by some of the best chefs in the state, and the restaurant received a semifinalist nomination for the highly sought-after James Beard Foundation’s “Best New Restaurant” award in 2019, so you know you’re in for something special here.

The menu is full of many modern takes on traditional Italian classics, such as scallops served with strawberry, basil, and pistachio; charred octopus with black garlic gazpacho and horseradish milk; and wagyu cannelloni.

Piccolina Toscana

Serving up tasty, authentic food from the Tuscany region in northern Italy, Piccolina Toscana is definitely worth a visit. In true Tuscany style, the menu leans more towards meats and cheeses than seafood, and dishes include decadent braised beef short ribs, grilled pork chops, and Pollo Alla Boscaiola – chicken breast served in a creamy white wine and mushroom sauce. Of course, pizzettes are also available and come with a large selection of toppings.

Well, there you have it. These are our favorite places to eat Italian food in Wilmington, but maybe you have some other ideas? Make sure you head on over to see us at Lexus of Wilmington to let us know what you think and browse our showroom of excellent new and used cars.
